Hi guys. Here is my first round of answers to the questions you've left for me in my "Ask Dolores" area. Thanks for all the questions you've left! I'll get to as many as I can so bear with me!
Question from Erix
Q: Why have you decided to include a new version of "Apple of My Eye" in the next album? Is it an entirely new song? A "remix"? I couldn't help but think of Peter Gabriel. He recorded two versions of "Here Comes the Flood" but they were more than 10 years apart and because he was dissatisfied with the first version. I'm curious as to why you decided to do it.
A: I decided to do it because the song holds a lot of meaning for me. I wrote it for Don, and I felt that it would be really nice to revisit the track in a totally new way. It's not an entirely new song, but it's a totally different take on the original, and it came out beautifully. It's a song that now has it's chance to really shine.
Question from softballer040
Q: Hi Dolores!
I was wondering if your inspirations for writing often inspire you to paint/ create art as well or if they are usually different things that inspire your art? Thanks from Texas!
A: My inspirations for writing music and making my art really come from many aspects of my life. I'm inspired by my family and the love I have for them, by the world and the state of things, by mother nature, by past experiences I've had, sometimes just my daily emotions and the simple moments in life. So I wouldn't say that my paintings are inspired by vastly different things than my music. Painting's just a totally different way of expressing what I feel.
Question from Cooby
Q: Is "Stupid" (the new song) something like "Loser"?
That'd be great! (:
A: Stupid is totally different from Loser altogether, from its tempo to the meaning behind it. It's a really beautiful song, and one of my favorites on the album.
Question from Alessandro
Q: Regardless of money, success, popularity, you're happy? What is happiness for you?
A: I'm the happiest now that I've probably ever been. Happiness for me is being with my family.
Question from Luca
Q: Hi Dolores,
Because i saw your videos in the Studio....i am very courious about the process of the tracks....its seems that you and Broadback are now using a lot pro-tools program. It s true? If so which is the most helpful thing that you used with this program?
Don't you think that some tracks ( for example Switch Of The Moment ) could result a little bit over-produced? Is it the effect that you want reach in studio?
Anyway thanks for these tracks are great!
Luca
A: I really like working in protools, because I can throw down loads of ideas and different approaches and it's all much simpler than in the old days. I think working that way allows an artist to go more places musically and try more things out, which I find very cool. Working with Dan Brodbeck for the second time for this new album has been a totally brilliant experience, and I think the tracks sound exactly as I'd heard them my head. I'm really very happy with the outcome.
Thanks again for all of the questions! I'll be getting to more of them soon.
Love
Dolores xx
Очень заинтриговало ее описание новой версии AOME и Stupid.
А еще в новостях на CFC написано, что вчера в час ночи Долорес вышла в чат!!!
Она была там буквально пару минут, написала, что сейчас немного простужена, и просто хотела со всеми поздороваться.
